MaxImpact, we prepare you, not only with the technical job skills
needed, but also with the employability and job retention skills
necessary, especially for participants who come to our programs with
limited skills, lack of formal education, multiple barriers, and little
work experience or a sporadic employment history. To register or for

Programs:
COURSE TITLE: Keyboarding Training
Basic keyboarding skills with emphasis on correct techniques and
development of speed and accuracy. Introduction to centering, typing of
personal and business letters, envelops, simple tables and manuscripts.
For those with no previous typing training. Keyboarding is a tool of
literacy. You will learn to keyboard by touch on computers and develop
a level of skill (speed & accuracy) that will enable you to produce
correctly formatted reports, business letters, memorandums, tables, and
so forth.
COURSE TITLE: Windows XP Tips and Tricks
This training is designed to help XP users in their quest to understand
the power and speed of the Microsoft XP Professional Operating System.
Configuration, Windows Explorer settings, shortcuts, key strokes,
navigation tips, and settings that customize and improve your XP
experience will be covered.
COURSE TITLE: Meet Your PC - (Computer Hardware & Software)
This class is designed to give PC users a better understanding of the
hardware they are using every day. This class will be presented in two
parts. Part one will be a PowerPoint lecture and demonstration of the
main components of the modern PC. We will discuss PC hardware at the
most basic level. Part two will be hands-on, where the student will be
able to remove and add a hard drive, add a PCI card, replace RAM,
remove and install a processor and gain first hand knowledge of the
internal hardware of a PC.
COURSE TITLE: MICROSOFT OFFICE APPLICATION PACKAGE
The program provides computer literacy, measures proficiency, and
identifies opportunities and modalities for skills enhancement in all
the Microsoft Office Application programs. It enables students to
master everything from the very basic day-to-day function office
functions to advanced features of Microsoft Office. The course is
divided into three levels of proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS
Access and two levels of proficiency in MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.
COURSE TITLE: MICROSOFT OFFICE APPLICATION With Basic Accounting
Principles/QuickBooks
The program provides computer literacy, measures proficiency, and
identifies opportunities and modalities for skills enhancement in all
the Microsoft Office Application programs. It enables students to
master everything from the very basic day-to-day function office
functions to advanced features of Microsoft Office. The course is
divided into levels of proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access MS
PowerPoint, Internet/MS Outlook, QuickBooks and basic accounting
principles. The Basic Accounting course takes students through the
various basic aspects of QuickBooks, such as creating an entire company
file, completing transactions and reconciling bank statements. Main
subjects include; setting up customers, vendors, employees electronic
forms, new company setup, payroll setup and processing, and banking.
COURSE TITLE: GRAPHIC DESIGN TECHNOLOGY
Program Purpose: To prepare students with technical knowledge and
hands-on training in using computers, cameras and other materials in
the field of graphic design. Computer Graphic Design has provided
Graphic Designers with the most powerful range of tools they have ever
enjoyed. While creative talent and the ability to sketch by hand are
still important, Computer Graphic Design has greatly increased the
speed and ease with which Graphic Designers can translate ideas into
visual form and then save and edit their designs. If you are interested
in working in Computer Graphic Design, then you will need a combination
of creative ability, some aptitude for computers, and the capacity to
communicate well.
COURSE TITLE COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST PROGRAM
Computer support specialists provide technical assistance, support, and
advice to customers and other users. This occupational group includes
technical support specialists and help-desk technicians. These
troubleshooters interpret problems and provide technical support for
hardware, software, and systems. They answer telephone calls, analyze
problems by using automated diagnostic programs, and resolve recurring
difficulties. Support specialists may work either within a company that
uses computer systems or directly for a computer hardware or software
vendor. Increasingly, these specialists work for help-desk or support
services firms, for which they provide computer support to clients on a
contract basis.
COURSE TITLE: NETWORKING DESIGN AND DESKTOP SUPPORT
The Network Design and Administration program prepares students as
local- and wide-area network administrators. Successful completion of
the program provides students with the essential skills of network
administration including network design, implementation, maintenance,
optimization, and troubleshooting, utilizing a variety of network
operating systems, and hardware platforms and protocols.
COURSE TITLE: QUICKBOOKS ACCOUNTING
This course takes you through the various aspects of QuickBooks, such
as:
Opening and setting up a new company file, Setting Preferences – with
suggestions for the most common settings, Items, Lists, & Forms –
what they are, why they are necessary, and how they work, The new Fixed
Asset Item List, Setting up Customers, Vendors, and Employees, Entering
transactions using purchase orders, accounts payable bills, customer
invoices, payroll timesheets, and journal entries, Customizing
QuickBooks Forms to create a professional appearance
COURSE TITLE: ACCOUNTING APPLICATIONS CLERK
Our Accounting Applications Clerk program will prepare you in the
principles, procedures and theories of keeping the financial records
and accompanying financial reports maintained and organized. Our
program can quickly give you the hands-on training to make your mark in
the modern business world.
LENGTH OF COURSE: 12 weeks or less. Accelerated courses are designed to
run in less than 12 weeks based on previous knowledge and learning
potential of the student.
GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION
Instruction Method: Textbooks, visual aids, computer simulation, and
guided hands on instruction. Class work and homework reinforce the
learning process.
COURSE DELIVERY FORMAT: Our courses are a combination of lecture and
in-class application of course topics with hands-on computer use.
Classes are taught in a computer-equipped classroom. Class lessons are
conducted during class. However, students will be required to complete
lessons and assignments outside of class time.
CERTIFICATION
All students receive a certificate of competence from MaxImpact
Institute upon successful completion of all requirements.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Students need to attend classes regularly to achieve an acceptable
level of competence. Lack of attendance can lead to a failing grade in
the course
GRADING CRITERIA AND PROCEDURES
This course is presented in modules. Module grades will be
assigned based on module examinations, class work and homework
completion. These module grades will be averaged for the course grade.
COURSE TESTING POLICY
The exam for a given module may be taken only once (No Retaking of
tests). Students expected to make every effort to be present for exams
when it is given in class. The policy on make-up exams is at the
discretion of your instructor.
COURSE CALENDAR
Homework assignments are due at the beginning of class the day
following the assignment.
CLASS HOURS
Monday-Thursday 9:00 to12:30, 1:00PM to 4:30PM, 5:30-8:30PM.
COMPUTER LAB HOURS
M-F 10am – 4pm. The lab will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
ATTENDANCE
We consider attendance and class participation as factors when a
student has a borderline final class grade (89 or 79). Students in this
situation with good attendance and class participation and who have
handed in all programs will have a point added to their overall grade
average.
TARDINESS
Tardiness is a detriment to student learning, normal classroom
procedures, instructions to students, and general decorum. Three
occurrences of tardiness will count as one absence. Remember that being
absent more than 20% of the class will result in a grade of F.
